President of the Manipur Olympic Association, MOA, G Joykumar Sharma today said there is very good prospect of the state government providing employment avenues to all the sportspersons who won medals in the Punjab Games.
This was stated during a reception organized by Sarajeevan Enterprises for Ch Rameshwori who adjudged the best woman athlete in the Games for winning five golds in cycling.
The reception was held at the residence of Joykumar Sharma.
The chief-de-mission of the State contingent at the Games, Imphal West DC H Imocha and State Cycling Association secretary Saratchandra among others attended it.
Speaking at the occasion, Joykumar said when the MOA called on the Governor, Advisor � and State DGP they assured that provisions may be made to employ the outstanding athletes in the state police force and BSF.
A number of private enterprises too have evinced interest in employing the athletes through the MOA, he added.
Quoting the DGP, Joykumar said Ch Rameshwori may be absorbed into the State police force as SI.
Following pressure from the MOA will complete the drafting of sports package by tomorrow, informed the MOA chief.
If the package is implemented it would benefit sportspersons.
A total of 103 athletes won at the Games.
Ch Birendra appealed to the people to extend co-operation so that promising sportspersons are not to force to go outside in search of greener pastures.
He also said the government should give jobs to them.
Sarajeevan Enterprises presented Rs 10,000 in cash and an Internet TV to Rameshwori during the function today.
